Intensive study of one or more topics in linguistics, through a variety of methods, e.g. lectures, discussions, readings, listening and/or viewings, and demonstrated application of learning. The topics may be studied in conjunction with the Australian Linguistic Institute organised by the Australian Linguistic Society.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- discuss and apply concepts, methods and theories associated with the focus topics;
- engage critically with relevant sources;
- undertake agreed tasks related to the focus topics; and
- complete a research project involving independent study.

Workload
130 hours of total student learning time made up from:
a) 36 hours of contact over 12 weeks: 24 hours of lectures and 12 hours of tutorials or equivalent, and
b) 94 hours of independent student research, reading and writing.
